New MPower Menopause Programme 

Lucy is thrilled to be collaborating with M-Power, a unique seven week programme that focuses on the physical, emotional and mental aspects of the peri-menopause and menopause.​

 

For a long time, we have been listening to women who are struggling with many issues relating to themenopause. With this in mind, and drawing from our own personal experiences, we have created apackage that we believe can genuinely help women, by giving them the tools they need to take control of their menopause. Every woman’s experience of the menopause is different, so our aim is to give you expert help in three key areas and arm you with the knowledge and confidence you need to move forward on this journey.Our programme focuses on exercise, nutrition and mindset. Together with professional guidance, peer support from the MPower community and a personal commitment, you will be equipped to make changes that will empower you through your menopause and beyond.

Fitness Sessions

You will have access to 2 x 50 minute fitness sessions per week over a 7 week period with Hannah and Sarah, our qualified peri to post-menopausal fitness instructors. These are small group sessions suitable for all levels of fitness, targeted specifically at women at this stage of life. ​Total number of sessions is 12.​

 

Women are at higher risk of osteoporosis after the menopause. Our exercise programme includes resistance training, helping build and maintain bone density as well as combating muscle loss associated with ageing - giving you the best chance at building the strength you will need to be resilient in the next phase of your life. Maintaining or building your muscle mass is also the best way to boost your metabolic health. Exercise reduces the stress hormones in your body and increases the feel good ones, which will boost your mood and sense of well-being. Targeted exercise can help to offset the drop in oestrogen during menopause that is linked to a higher risk of dementia in women, and improve cognitive functioning.​ Exercise is also proven to increase your heart health, improve your balance and co-ordination and provide relief from hot flushes.

 

It’s never too late, or early, to start the right kind of exercise!

Personal Nutrition

During this stage of our life our nutritional needs change, and our risk of various chronic health diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease, starts to increase. The good news is that nutrition and lifestyle can have a powerful impact on these symptoms and on our risk of disease, and that by learning to fuel and nourish our bodies in the right way, we can help to regain control over our wellbeing and health.​ By making small but sustainable changes to our nutrition and lifestyle, we can be better prepared physically, mentally, and emotionally for the challenges of the menopause. This helps to rebalance our hormones and correct any potential nutrient deficiencies, alongside reducing our risk of health problems in the future.

 

As part of the MPower programme you will receive a nutrition and lifestyle ‘MOT’ via a 1-hour Zoom consultation with Helen, our registered Nutritionist and Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner. Your personal plan aims to specifically target any symptoms that you are experiencing, your health history and your personal goals and will provide you with evidence based dietary and lifestyle and supplement recommendations as necessary. Your plan provides you with the practical tools to support your health through peri-menopause, menopause and beyond.​​

Mindset

As your Mindset Coach, Lucy has created a two-session group experience designed specifically for the MPower programme. The sessions will each last 60-75 minutes and focus on the main psychological signs and symptoms of the menopause, including:

 

  • Loss of identity and purpose

  • Resilience building

​

  • Shifting from people pleasing and victim mindset

​

  • Anxiety and stress management

​

  • Building self-esteem and confidence while creating the version of you that no longer feels invisible or unseen

 

  • Mindset motivation to own the menopausal experience, rather than it owning you

 

You will be part of a private Facebook group and will have regular input from your coaches and your peers.

 

5-Point Ear acupuncture

You will also receive auricular (ear) acupuncture (NADA-GB Five Point Protocol). This silent 30-40 minute treatment takes place in a quiet, comfortable group setting. Recipients may fall asleep, slip into a meditative state or just quietly allow their mind to wander in a relaxed way. The benefits are wide, and symptoms - such as hot flushes, poor sleep, anxiety, panic, palpitations and anger - are often reduced afterwards. This introduction to the five-point treatment will be an opportunity to experience first-hand the relaxing and calming power it has.

Lucy will schedule these sessions in small groups to ensure maximum flexibility on dates and is happy to discuss or answer any questions about the treatment and coaching if you have any.
